Lytham St. Annes Road Runners Club's Races
The Club organizes two carnival races annually with the profits from both races split between the St. Anne's Town Carnival Charity chosen each year by the Carnival Queen and the Club. The Club's races are:
The St. Anne's Carnival 5k and The St. Annes Carnival 1500m Fun Run

The St. Anne's Carnival 5K   Run amidst St. Anne's seafront attractions and holidaymakers at the height of the summer and in conjunction with the town carnival, this race has a truly festive atmosphere.

Photo of 5K startThe flat, accurately measured 5k course marked with kilometre signs takes competitors from the wide walkway adjacent to the pitch and putt course to the western end of the attractive Fairhaven Lake and back to finish close to the pier.

While ideally suited to novice runners because of its flatness and off-road location, it nevertheless provides something to interest the most talented athletes. In addition to the standard overall, veteran categories and men's and women's team prizes, the race has the less common feature of rewarding younger athletes.  The first boy and girl in the junior age categories Under 15, Under 17 and Under 20 receive prizes. In addition, finishers receive souvenirs and there are spot prizes for the lucky ones. Minimum age 13 on race day and race limit 150.

The race HQ, where registration and prize-giving takes place, is in the Lord Derby Pub, approximately 500m from the start and 100m from the finish. There are toilets, a bar and free buffet for competitors laid on here after the race.  Additional toilets, free to race-goers, are situated close to the finish and 179m beyond the 5K start.  The race starts at 11am and you can register at the Lord Derby from 8:30am.

Since its inception in 2007, this race has contributed hundreds of pounds to the joint causes: the St. Anne's Carnival Charity, chosen each year by the incoming Carnival Queen, and Lytham St Annes RRC. learn more

The St. Anne's Carnival 1500m Fun Run With the emphasis on "fun" and to make sure that all members of the family are catered for, the St. Anne's Carnival 1500m Fun Run takes place on the same day as the 5K. Everyone from toddler to adult beginner and from veteran to out-of-condition ex-runner, is invited to take part. Parents and older siblings are welcome to accompany the younger members of the family.

The race starts at 10am, one hour before the 5K, and runs from near St. Anne's Pier onto the sea wall, clockwise round the pitch and putt and back onto the sea wall to finish a little way down from the start. To suit the more serious of the young athletes, the race is a measured and certificated 1500m with stage markers every 500m, a distance particularly suitable for younger athletes, but which will also give a sense of achievement to older competitors.

All finishers will receive a medal with the St. Anne's Carnival Queen on hand to enhance the occasion. Registration is in the Lord Derby Pub, just 5 minutes walk from the start. Follow the link below for on-line entry or just come on the day and sign in. Additional toilets, free to race-goers, are situated close to the start and finish.  The race starts at 10am and you can register at the Lord Derby from 8:30am. There are no age restrictions on this race and a limit of 150.

With the tourist attractions of St. Annes close by, a visit to the St. Anne's Carnival races can truly be a day out for all the family. learn more
