QUIZ (TOO) I1

The second quiz takes a closer look at one of the four parent pages: Our Own Races, the page written specifically for active club members, and the pages which lead off.
If you want to try out the quiz, download this page, fill your answers in the last column and send as an attachment to the address at the foot of the page.
Go now to the Our Own Races page in order to answer the questions below..
1)  In front of you you see a nine-cell table which acts as a hub to take you by hyperlinks to many other pages. The bright cell backgounds are just to attract your attention and have no particular significance. How many different pages can you reach directly from this page?
Now let's' take a look at some of the pages that can be reached from this parent page.
2)

Click on Interclub Grand Prix to go to that page. The main information on this page is the list of dates of grand prixs. Against the Lytham race there is a link to give directions labelled ddirand a link to results labelled overall. What is the difference between these two links?

3) Click the back arrow to return to Our Own Races and go to a second page; this time to Summer Evening Series. Try clicking on the dirlink for each of the SES races returning by using the back arrow. This will take you to a different point each time but on the same page. The mechanism that allows you to jump to a specific point is called a named anchor. Can you find a named anchor on the SES page?
4) Go to the “Monthly Handicap” page. Note the lines of text moving from right to left. The code that writes this movement is called “marquee”. The technique is used in this website to draw attention to something: either slogans or record-breaking performances. How many runs on the YMCA handicap route in April and May 2005 have been within 3 minutes of the course record?
5)  TIE-BREAKER: Use the back arrow to return to “Our Own Races” and go next to “Relays”. Write an alternative slogan to be put into marquee form for the top of the “Relays” page.
