Where a handicap was an estimate for a new or lapsed runner they only score one point but their handicap for next month will be based on this time and qualify for a full score. A season’s best (SB) earns two bonus points. Please check your statistics on both tables and notify me of any errors.
A fine by Richard gave him first place by over a minute from in form Rae who chalked up a fourth consecutive season’s best. The rest of the field were closely matched in an exciting race with Paul and Ed having their best runs of the summer while Debbie’s time was also a pb. It was pleasing to have a new runner, Chris Holland, who I hope enjoyed it enough to become a regular.
As the table at the halfway point shows Rae’s hot run has given him a useful eight point lead over the pack but there’s a long winter ahead and plenty of opportunities for others to close the gap.
Next month we move to the winter course around the estates and those unfamiliar with the more complicated route would benefit from a recce with one of the regulars. You’ll find a map of the course on the club website under Monthly Handicap/Estate Course.
My thanks to helpers Dawn, Layla and Terry for helping and to Janet and Terry for organising last month when I was on holiday.
Best wishes to Rosemary. This was the final Handicap for Rosemary who has been a regular for the past four years and will soon be off to the Fatherland to pursue her twin careers in athletics and aviation.
Please check the updated table carefully and let me know if you find any errors.
Bill.
