Where a handicap was an estimate a runner only qualifies for one point but their handicap for next month will be based on this time and qualify for a full score. A season's best (SB) earns two bonus points. Please check your statistics on both tables and notify me of any errors.
The weather seemed to know it was the start of the winter season for our handicap and the balmy Indian summer evenings came to a sudden and very blustery end right on cue. Thankfully my calculations for the new course were accurate enough to produce a particularly close and exciting finish which got the season off to a good start.
Congratulations to Ian on his win, Nigel T. (who else?) on the fastest time and Debbie for extending her lead at the top of the table. Thanks to Paul Walsh for measuring the new course (a more involved procedure than you might imagine), Bryan for his help at the finish and Laura for the delicious treacle cake. It was good to see so many staying back for the food and socialising afterwards. Dawn was the lucky winner of the inaugural £10 draw.
May I remind everyone to cross Forest Drive only once in each direction, somewhere between the junction with South Park and the Hole In One. This will ensure fairness as all run the same distance - important when races are as close as this one was. Next month I will be asking the Neighbourhood Watch on the estates to report any miscreants.
Bill.
