Fifteen runners tackled the new all-year-round sea front course.  The new course is designed to take runners anticlockwise round the western loop to avoid a long unbroken stretch into prevailing westerly winds.  Defying years of tradition, on this occasion competitors had to run the longest stretch straight into the teeth of a strong warm easterly wind (tail end of Wilma?).  That many people’s times were as predicted was a tribute to their tenacity and Bill’s apt handicapping.  Congratulations to Debbie who won in only her second Handicap and Pat, a close second.  Congratulations also to Nigel who has set the Course Record of 22:02 and to Neil, Roy, Stephen and North Fylde visitor Les Endean who also achieved good performances.  Thanks to Bill for all his hard work.

Neil did well enough to retain his lead in the points table and Roy Upton’s score of 6 now moves him into second place.

Half the participants returned to the warmth of YMCA for food and a post mortem.

Next month’s will start at 6:45pm from the Land Registry.  Consulting the Start List on the notice board or website will allow those who wish, to go straight.
