Where a handicap was an estimate a runner only qualifies for one point but their handicap for next month will be based on this time and qualify for a full score. A season's best (SB) earns two bonus points. Please check your statistics on both tables and notify me of any errors.
Another blustery evening but a good turnout of twenty-two nonetheless and some close racing. Yours truly forgot his head torch and was very relieved the timing was all correct after squinting to read the stopwatch under the street lamp.
Congratulations to Neil on his win. The comfortable margin shows he is finally getting near to his best again. Eight runners earned bonus points for bettering their October time and Debbie still has one hand very firmly on the annual trophy but with four races to go there's time for some of the chasing pack to produce a storming finish and the handicapping will play its part too. It was also good to see new member Vicky performing so creditably. Vicky has little running experience and tells me this was her first race of any kind so hanging in for second place was an excellent debut.
Thanks to Angela and Terry for coming along to help. Ideally the finish needs two or three people and if any of you are ever disinclined to run one month due to a cold, injury or over-indulgence at Christmas, your help will be welcome.
May I again ask everyone to keep to the footpaths and cross Forest Drive only once in each direction, somewhere between the junction with South Park and the Hole in One. This will ensure fairness as all run the same distance and don't gain from cutting corners. If you're unsure of the instructions and precise route you can remind yourself by checking on the club website. Bill.
