Where a handicap was an estimate a runner only qualifies for one point but their handicap for next month will be based on this time and qualify for a full score. A season’s best (SB) earns two bonus points. Please check your statistics on both tables and notify me of any errors.
Congratulations to the winner, new junior member Jake who improved markedly on last month’s time, and to seasoned veteran Graham for topping the year’s list to win the Roy Stevens Plate. Debbie couldn’t have done more to try and hold on to her lead. She improved her previous best by a full minute to finish second on the night but Graham also ran a new best time in fifth place to steal first spot at the final hurdle. Thanks to Tony Croft for coming along and helping at the finish.
Overall I believe it’s been a good year for the handicap with very close finishes and the fight for the championship going to the last race. What has concerned me is the dwindling number of runners taking part in recent months. Up to November we were averaging over twenty but by the final March race this had fallen to eleven with, very disappointingly, only four staying on for the prize giving.
Bill.
