Congratulations to Emily on finishing first on the night and overhauling previous leader Paul Walsh to win the annual shield.  Needing to head Paul by four places to take the trophy Emily pulled out all the stops to improve her own women’s record by an impressive 65 seconds.  Nigel Thompson in 7th place also had a great run to improve his men’s record by 7 seconds, and a third record breaker was Rachel Proctor who trimmed 24 seconds from her previous junior women’s record.

Running in daylight on a fine evening was good for times with half the finishers achieving pbs and an honorable mention is due to Helen, a close runner-up, who has improved her time by well over three minutes on her past two runs.

Commiserations to Rik who pulled up injured during the race.  Let’s hope this isn’t a long-term problem.

Thanks to Terry and Jol for helping at the finish and to all who have competed so well over the last year, particularly Paul W. and Neil who each ran in 11 of the 12 handicaps.

If you spot any errors please let me know.

Bill.
