Monthly Handicap Results

Thursday 26th June, 2008. 4.35 miles

Frame1

Where a handicap was an estimate for a new or lapsed runner they only score one point but their handicap for next month will be based on this time and qualify for a full score. A season’s best earns two bonus points. Please check your statistics on both tables and notify me of any errors.

Contrary to my expectations the foul weather brought out a good number of competitors and an exciting close finish. Chris Holland had a great run improving his PB by over three minutes for a well deserved win and eight others produced season’s best times to earn bonus points. Unluckiest was probably Harry who set off last and was fastest on the night but failed in a gallant effort to catch the rest. Sue Samme not surprisingly was fastest lady and tied for joint second fastest overall with Graham Webster. In the points table Chris Grove and Ian Squire take over first place from Laura but it’s tight at the top. The three first-timers all ran well, most notably Trish who was on her first visit to the club and gallantly accepted the challenge – hope you enjoyed yourselves and will be back again in July.

There are a couple of changes since the provisional results at the Y. The deluge did present us with a few problems at the finish and I believe everything is sorted now but please check and let me know if you find an error. Thanks to helpers Terry, Layla and Dave Wood and to Laura for her delicious fruit cake.

Now a treat to look forward to. Next month’s handicap will be followed by a barbecue (and the inevitable ping-pong tournament) at Fiona and Neil’s home. Those who’ve been on previous occasions will be familiar with just how well the Robertses entertain us and Neil promises the added novelty of outdoor ping-pong this time

Bill.
