Where a handicap was an estimate for a new or lapsed runner they only score one point but their handicap for next month will be based on this time and qualify for a full score. A season's best (SB) earns two bonus points. Please check your statistics on both tables and notify me of any errors.
Well, we now know Lytham St. Anne's Road Runners are a hardy bunch. On a wet, wet, wet night when I expected numbers to be way down we had an almost average turnout. What's more it was a really tight race with an exciting final charge down Mythop Road and just over two minutes between second and seventeenth places.
Congratulations to new member Dave Cosh, who has now experienced first and last places in his only two handicaps, and to Tony Croft for fastest on the night. It was good to see our latest member Phil Martin braving the deluge for his first attempt and also our guest Emma Stevens who enjoyed it so much she's considering joining us. Later a somewhat embarrassed Emma capped her evening by pulling dad's name out of the envelope for the monthly £20 draw - the odds were about 80:1. Commiserations to Neil who tweaked a hamstring but declined a lift to the finish so he could limp home and claim his 'lucky' thirteen points.
Thanks to Terry and Layla for their help at the finish and Dawn for the raspberry crumble and to everyone for braving the rain.
If you spot an error let me know.
Bill.
