Where a handicap was an estimate a runner only qualifies for one point but their handicap for next month will be based on this time and qualify for a full score. A season’s best (SB) earns two bonus points. Please check your statistics on both tables and notify me of any errors.
Highlight of the evening was undoubtedly a terrific run by Nigel Thompson whose 18.55 in third place improved his own course record by 27 seconds. Elsewhere Dave Wood produced a much improved time to win and in the overall competition second-placed Roy Upton ran a p.b. to close the gap on below par leader Debbie Cooper to a single point. To add to the excitement, with two races left others including Tony Croft still have good chances but the dark horse is Graham Webster who has a one point score for April to eliminate. It was most encouraging to see juniors Rachel Proctor in second place and our guest Jake Slater running and posting good times and Marie Wilcock returning after a long absence
We're in for a tense finish that should go right to the wire, and with handicapping to add to the uncertainty it's sure to be a nail biting final round in March
Thanks to Terry and Layla for coming along to help on a very chilly evening.
Bill.
