Where a handicap was an estimate for a new or lapsed runner they only score one point but their handicap for next month will be based on this time and qualify for a full score. A season’s best earns two bonus points. Please check your statistics on both tables and notify me of any errors.
The penultimate race of the series was perhaps the ‘fastest’ handicap we’ve ever run with twelve competitors earning bonus points for season’s best and seven of these being pbs too! Most spectacular of all was Dave Cosh who improved his previous best by over a minute and in so doing knocked Dave Wood off the top spot he’s held on to for months and these two will now go into March’s final round to decide the championship separated by only a single point.
Another notable performer was Nigel Thompson who finished just ten seconds outside his own course record while four of our fast-improving newest members were also prominent with Julia Rabes and Ashley Heywood finishing first and second and Ryan Heywood over two minutes quicker than his first run last month. Our very newest member Sue O’Callaghan, who joined on the night, was first across the finish line with a promising 37m 56s off an estimated handicap.
Thanks to regulars Layla and Terry for their help, also to Nigel S. and to Debbie for assisting at the finish while unable to run through injury. Mel’s apple crumble was delicious; it’s a while since we had one of these home baked treats that always add a nice homely touch to the evening’s activities.
Thanks to all of you for taking part and making it such a successful event, Bill.
