Congratulations to Emily and Nigel who set women’s and men’s records for the
new course despite conditions being more suited to penguins. Now, as a result
of Emily and Paul’s excellent runs there is something of a log jam at the
top that promises plenty of excitement over the final three rounds. Other
noteworthy runs came from Tony Croft and Dave Dunn with p.b.s and junior Mandy
who braved the tough conditions for her first race.
Special thanks are due to Fiona and Neil for their splendid après race hospitality. Bangers and mash followed by table tennis in their warm cosy home was the perfect antidote to ward off hypothermia. What’s more, they enjoyed our company so much we’re invited back after future handicaps as well!
Thanks also to John Bertenshaw who generously funded the prizes, Brian Porter for the complimentary sports massage and Steve Hargreaves who shivered alongside me at the start and finish. It was a great show by everyone who defied the weather to take part. All in all our special festive handicap was a notable success.
Bill Lock.
