11. Club Bronze Award
Bill Lock has proposed –Club Bronze Standard Proposal
I believe to encourage all to progress and enter races our lowest Club Standard, Bronze, should be achievable by any member. For this reason I propose times are ignored and having completed a race or races is sufficient to earn a bronze award.
‘A Bronze Certificate may be claimed for having completed a race at any one of the specified distances.
A Bronze Medal may be claimed for having completed races at four different specified distances while in the same age category.’
12. Club Championship
Sarah Tatton has proposed
‘I propose that only first claim members of the club shall be eligible for its Club Championship competition.’
Justification (for background)
1. To encourage full participation in the Championship by first claim members. The presence of a second claim member acts as a deterrent to first claim members competing in the same age category.
2. No other local running club allows second claim members to compete in their competition and we should be in line with that.
3. Second claim members pay reduced subscriptions and past experience shows they are less likely to attend award ceremonies to collect the awards and trophies which the club has paid for. This undermines the prestige of winning the awards and is disappointing to first claim members of the club and its committee.
13 . Windmill Plate
Dawn Lock has proposed:
It appears to me that the present system leads to a large number of candidates with few votes each and a final winner who represents the votes of a small proportion of the voters. To remedy this situation the following proposal is put forward.
"It is proposed that from 2011 onwards the winner of the Windmill Plate shall be the candidate from a list of nominated candidates, who receives the largest number of votes cast by members of the Club entitled to vote."
Nominations would be accepted from any member of the Club entitled to vote and the short list including candidates' profiles, would be presented to the membership in advance of the voting.
